How we work
Ventefri offers personal help to patients and relatives who are stuck in the Norwegian health system. We go through the case with you, find out which options you have and help you with the next step. We are starting with women with endometriosis, but we welcome enquiries from anyone waiting for healthcare.
From first contact to the next step
It starts with a short form on this website. You tell us what it is about and how to reach you, and we get in touch within two working days. In the first conversation we find out where your case stands: what you have been referred for, which letters you have received, and what has happened since.
We then look at the options and agree on which ones are worth trying. After that we help you with the practical part, whether it is a letter, a reminder, a complaint, an application or an enquiry to the hospital. You are the one who sends it, in your own name, but you do not do it alone.
The help is personal and tailored to your case. We do not have fixed packages yet; the first cases will teach us which kind of help works best.
The options we look at
As a patient in specialist healthcare in Norway you can, as a rule, choose where you are treated, and waiting times vary between hospitals. They are listed in Velg behandlingssted on Helsenorge (in Norwegian). Switching can therefore be a faster route, and we help you find out whether it is for you. Read more in our guide to choosing another hospital.
When you have been granted the right to healthcare, you have also been given a deadline for when treatment must start at the latest. If the hospital cannot help you within that deadline, Helfo must be notified and find another place for treatment. We help you understand the deadline and follow up if it is missed. Read more in our guide to missed deadlines.
Sometimes the right step is a new assessment or a new referral, for example when your situation has changed. Private treatment is also an option, and we help you understand what it costs. For some types of treatment, treatment in another EEA country may be relevant; you can read more on the page about treatment abroad.
Not every option suits everyone, and sometimes there is no faster route. That is also worth knowing. It lets you choose for yourself, instead of waiting without knowing where your case stands.
What we do not do
Ventefri is not a healthcare service. We do not diagnose, give medical advice or assess which treatment you need; doctors and the hospital do that. Nor do we process cases for Helfo, NAV or the hospitals, and we cannot promise the outcome of an application or complaint, how long processing takes, or when you will be treated.
When we describe a place of treatment, the information is that provider's own, and we present it as such.
Your information
First contact should be simple: your name, how to reach you and briefly what it is about. Do not send documents or health information through the form. If your case needs documents, you will get a secure way to send them, using encrypted email. We only ask for what we need to help you. Read more in the privacy notice.
Price
The help is free while we start up. We are new and want to learn which kind of help works and what it costs to deliver before we set a price.
